Call for Nominations

Public Members for the Board of Commissioners for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

The Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals has been invited to forward names of candidates qualified to serve as a Public Member on the Board of Commissioners for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

CRITERIA:

  1. Personal characteristics should demonstrate the potential for a constructive and substantive contribution to the Joint Commission including:
    1. Prominence, respect and name recognition among his/her peers
    2. A record of significant accomplishment in more than one area of endeavor
    3. Willingness and ability to articulate a point of view clearly and persuasively
    4. Ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive contributions
    5. A broad understanding of health care issues
    6. Ability and willingness to commit time and effort necessary for active service
  2. Special expertises – such as finance, business, informatics or communications
  3. Influence among external groups
  4. JCAHO has particular interest in leaders in the purchaser community, experts in public policy development and individuals who themselves have been significant consumers of healthcare services
  5. Individuals with healthcare professional backgrounds are not eligible for consideration.

COMMITMENT

  1. Voluntary position requiring approximately 10-12 days annually to board meetings and related activities. Commissioners meet quarterly with three regular two-day meetings in the Chicago area and one three-day off-site retreat annually.
  2. Expenses related to service is supported by the JCHAO
